See how your feed is ranked. Then change it.
Most feeds are a black box tuned to hold your attention. Surf hands you the same dials the ranker reads.
Every ranking weight, in your hands.
Three sliders set what your feed optimizes for: conversation or likes, top posts or just posted, hidden gems or trending. They scale the weights the ranker actually multiplies by. A reply starts at 7.0, a repost at 5.0, a like at 0.5.
Steer the feel, not just the topic.
Seven more sliders shape the character of what you see: sentiment, depth, controversy, political lean, substance, novelty, and how far to explore. Each is graded, so a nudge stays a nudge.
Describe it, and the sliders move.
Type something like “less negativity, more from people i know.” It maps to the same public knobs you could set by hand, and lands as a rule you can see and switch off. Keep up to 12 standing rules at once.
Describe your feed
Your setting beats the model.
Surf learns from what you engage with, but that learning is capped at 0.6 on a scale that runs to 1.0, and a slider you set by hand overrides it outright. Safety filters are never relaxed this way, by you or by us.
Every post tells you why.
Open any ranked post for the reason it reached you, read straight off the ranking query with no extra call and no AI. Disagree, and show less is in the same sheet.
rest days are training days. say it with me.
Why am I seeing this?
This is gaining traction right now with 412 likes and climbing.
Your feed will adjust over time.
The scoring, published.
These are the weights the ranker actually multiplies by, in the same code that fills every feed on Surf.
How your feed is scored
Three ways in
1,500 candidates by weighted popularity, 400 nearest your interests by vector search, and 300 from people with taste like yours. Accounts you follow are pinned into the set.
23 signals
Replies, reposts, quotes, shares, dwell time and your own history all feed the score. The five that move it most are listed on the left.
No single account floods you
Past your third post from one author, the rest are damped, and so is any one format that takes over the slate.
The paid multiplier
Posts from paying accounts are multiplied by 1.5x, 2.5x or 4x by tier. It is the one lever money buys, and it cannot touch your safety filters or a setting you chose.
Everyone, your follows, or people you know.
Set the scope of your whole feed in one tap. People you know is an inner circle built from who you actually talk to, not who you followed once and forgot.
Who fills your feed
Not feeling ranked? Turn it off.
One switch drops you into a newest-first feed. No scoring, no inference, posts in the order they went up. Your blocks, mutes and comfort filters still hold, because those are yours too.
The reasons, in plain words.
Ranked posts carry one of these.
You follow them
Accounts you follow are always in the running, never cut by the candidate cap.
Someone you know
A friend in your inner circle liked or replied.
A topic you like
It matches a subject you lean into.
Similar to your taste
Close to things you have engaged with before.
Climbing right now
Gaining real traction in the last few hours.
Broadening your feed
A deliberate step outside your usual circle.
